A winter sun catcher

This is probably one of the coolest things Biscuit and I have made together. Biscuit really enjoyed making this and hanging it outside. She even sat outside staring at it for quite some time. Adorable! If you have an ice cube tray, a round cake pan, food coloring, ribbon, and a small plastic cup, you are in business!! Here we go...

First make your ice cubes by adding a few drops of food coloring to the water in each section of your ice cube tray. Use just a few matching colors, they will run together later. Freeze the cubes completely.

Then fill a round cake pan about two-thirds full of water. To make the hole for the ribbon, set a plastic cup full of water in the pan. Place the pan in the freezer for an hour or so. Then put the colored ice cubes in the pan and let all the liquid freeze solid. 

After the water has completely frozen, remove the plastic cup and flip the sun catcher out of the pan gently. Then hang it outside with ribbon.

Biscuit requested that we hang it low because she wanted to play with it.

After a few minutes it began to  melt. Biscuit and I talked about how it was "catching" the sun and the sun was making it melt. She decided we better place a bucket underneath it.
