Princess of Hearts

In the spirit of Valentine's Day and our monthly theme ~ LOVE ~ we made a crown of hearts.
This is a toddler friendly craft that is tons of fun to make and even more fun to wear around!

We did this activity after reading the amazing book The Crown on Your Head by Nancy Tillman.
If you do not have this book in your collection I highly suggest you add it immediately!
It's a lovely story for your little love.

All you need for this activity is a paper plate, sharp scissors or a craft knife, paint and a paintbrush, construction paper, glue, and glitter if you like to add sparkle.

Using a craft knife or scissors make three or four large slits in the paper plate.
Leave about an inch or so around the plate.

Have your child paint the plate and allow the paint to completely dry.

While your paper plate is drying, cut several small hearts out of construction paper.

You can decorate the little hearts with glitter if you wish.

Glue the hearts to the tips of the little triangles that your slits made, then allow to dry.
I placed the crown around the bottom of a candle jar so the "crown" would form well.

Ta ~ da!

  2. Cute idea! I host a weekly meme called Thematic Thursday. Each week has a theme and this would be perfect for this week's Valentine's theme.
