I must admit that I
really need to start reading some nonfiction. I say this totes sarcastically, and yes I just said totes. :) I'm rather boring... I am
kind of obsessed with child development and parenting books. Even before I had Biscuit I was constantly reading a new book on the "cutting edge" developments in all things kid related. What's funny is that nothing was ever really "cutting edge." It's kind of like all the new diet books, at the end of the day they all say the same thing ~ eat right and exercise.
Tell us something we don't know, I do all that and my thighs still rub together people!! Help a girl out!! Anyway, I started a new book and it's truly an interesting read. It's not a book full of advice or parenting tactics, rather food for thought.
As I was reading yesterday I came across this point and I wanted to share it with all of you. Just a little something to take with you through the weekend...
"Children are not passive absorbers of knowledge; rather, they are active constructors of concepts."
Happy Playing & Exploring!
(and reading)
Wait, I'm supposed to be eating right and exercising??? ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way with parenting/child development books. Well, I used to be. Then I had four kids. Now I have no time to read.
:) I don't know how you do it. I am convinced that you are Super Woman.
DeleteInteresting post. The best non-fiction book I have read for years was Better http://caroleschatter.blogspot.co.nz/2011/11/better-by-atul-gawande.html
ReplyDeleteThank you Carole, I will have to read that next!
