Toy Treasures

Okay so I have been called a "toy snob." GULP. That's not so bad is it? I feel that toys my little one plays with should be safe, educational, nurturing, and creative. Also let me be honest, I hate big ugly plastic toys. There I said it!

Here are some toys that are a big hit at our house.

(Please remember to always look at the recommended age range for any toy you purchase for your little one. Some toys listed may contain choking hazards and are not recommended for children under three.)

B. You Toys Piccolo Bells

This little carousel of bells is way too much fun. I grabbed this at Target for under $15 and my little one LOVES it. The bells sound so beautiful!!
It is also very durable and small enough for your child to carry from room to room.

Sew N Sew
I love this simple wooden sewing block by Ryan's Room. It is great for working on fine motor skills and concentration.

Tickle Monster Laughter Kit

Melissa and Doug Big Button Number Fun
I am in love with this toy. My daughter and I play with this every single day.  This gem is a colorful and fun way to practice number and shape recognition, counting and sequencing. Five double-sided wooden boards with ten designs provide insets for 10 number cards. Everyone will have fun matching the correct number cards and shapes for each board.

Melissa and Doug Alphabet Stacking and Nesting Blocks
We love these blocks! They are cardboard, yet they hold up well to toddler play. The letters and pictures are very bright and super cute!
My little one loves stacking the blocks in addition to using them as car garages, stairs for her dolls, etc. This is a great toy to encourage open-ended play!!

Plan Toys Animal Domino
Are you sensing a trend here? I am a bit obsessed with Plan Toys! I cannot say enough about this brand!! Environmentally conscious, safe, creative, high quality, I could on for days. I bought my biscuit this toy last week and I am soooo excited about it! This game allows children to play individually or in groups, so this is perfect for some quiet time or a play date! This toy is not only fun, it also helps develop eye-hand coordination and concentration skills. SOLD!

Plan Toys Punch and Drop

As I have mentioned, I love Plan Toys.
Plan Toys is a green company that maintains superior quality while following a path of environmental and social responsibility. Gotta love that.
This toy has been around this house since the wee one was only a year old. Here we are a year later and it is still a hit! Literally. ;)
This toy improves hand-eye coordination, aim, and bad moods.

Melissa & Doug Stack and Sort Board
This toy was a big surprise. I bought this for my daughter because we needed to work on counting and shape recognition. I thought she would like it, however I did not expect her to LOVE this toy so much that I have to pry it from her little hands at nap time!!
We count the pieces, stack the shapes, sort the shapes, you name it! However we also build towers with the pieces, mix and match shapes, make patterns, etc. This toy is totally worth the ten bucks!!

Plan Toys Sorting Cone

Okay I admit I have a soft spot for this brand.
PLAN TOYS creates toys that inspire the imagination and promote intellectual development.
Plan Toys is a green company that maintains superior quality while following a path of environmental and social responsibility.
My little one LOVES Plan Toys. One of the current faves is the Sorting Cone.
Why does Mommy love this? Well it's a wooden treasure! Putting this stacker together is more complex than simply "stacking" one piece on another. My munchkin and I talk about cones and cylinders, size, order, etc.
This sorting cone has delivered hours of fun in this house!

Green Toys Tea Set

This toy is perfect for your little girl OR boy!
Set up a tea time and serve your stuffed animals some delicious tea.
This is an excellent way to "teach" table manners and foster your munchkin's gracious side.
An added bonus is Green Toys are all constructed from recycled plastic and other environmentally friendly materials.
Make your toddler AND the planet smile!

Melissa and Doug Speck Seahorse Ice Cream Set

Good sand toys are hard to come by! Need I say more?! ;)

Alex Toys "My Art"

No need to throw away art work!! Shake that guilty mama feeling when you need to de-clutter!
File your little Picasso's masterpieces in this portfolio from Alex Toys.
There are sections with tabs for you to label, a little picture window in the front to display your artist's photo, and it looks much prettier than a drawer stuffed full of paper!

Alex Toys Tabletop Easel

Oh how we love this easel! Where do I start?
This easel comes with spill proof paint cups, THANK YOU!
I can easily move it from room to room and it is ultra cute wherever I put it.
This is a high quality easel and you do not have to assemble a thing people!
Mommy time is precious, we don't have all day to mess with 'directions!'
My munchkin loves this because she can paint or color anywhere she wants! Outside, inside, at the table, on the floor, whatever floats her boat.

Melissa and Doug Band in a Box
Music is SO important and dare I say essential to early childhood development.
This band set is full of fantastic instruments for your toddler.
Let the jam session begin!

Discovery Toys Giant Pegboard

I love toys that grow with a child!
This pegboard is sure to provide endless entertainment for your toddler or preschooler encouraging pre-math and pre-reading skills.
Side one features a pegboard for sorting, stacking, counting, and matching! The flip side features a raised peg geoboard for creating geometric designs.

Mimi the Sardine Aprons

I LOVE this apron! It is manufactured here in the bay area and it has a water based coating, not PVC. No worries about any recalls because of a vinyl coating!
This pint-sized apron is adjustable, durable and practical!! It is perfect for art projects, cooking, spaghetti dinners, or water table play because nearly everything washes right off.
It is permanently water, soil, and mess resistant yet remains soft and supple.
